Our Story

How We Began

Rooted in Community, Built by Hand

Gadugi Crafts began with a simple idea: give Cherokee artisans in and around Tahlequah, Oklahoma a place to share their work with the world, on their own terms. "Gadugi" — a Cherokee word meaning people coming together to work for the common good — felt like the only name that fit.

Today, the studio is led by our two primary artisans, Keli Oosahwee and Joseph Price, who create every piece across beadwork, pottery, painting, basketry, walking sticks, and mixed media. Gadugi Crafts also welcomes collaborations with other Cherokee artisans looking for a place to sell their work.
